“As conductor,” stated Mic Harper, “I am always searching for new music that best suits our ensemble, engaging the musicians and entertaining our audiences at the same time. This season we are delving into the world of opera with the lovely Flower Duet from Lakme by Leo Delibes, pairing soprano saxophone and B flat clarinet solo voices. Other selections include my personal favorite John Philip Sousa’s The Black Horse Troop, W.C. Handy’s Beale Street Blues, some Henry Mancini, Scott Joplin, and even a selection from Jacques Offenbach.”
The Band is always looking for musicians to join it in providing entertainment throughout Calaveras County. “We are in great need of brass and clarinet players, all types of wind instruments are welcome”, says conductor Mic Harper.
