Bear Valley, CA…Update on the search for Thursday 8/4/16: On going investigation indicates Rosalyn Saxsenmeier is an avid hiker. As a result, the search area has expanded into Calaveras and Tuolumne Counties. Search Teams are following up on clues and re-searching many areas. Currently the Air National Guard is on scene with a Lakota Helicopter and are performing day and night searches with a Forward Looking Infrared camera. Previous details: The Alpine County Sheriff’s Office is currently conducting a search and rescue operation in the Area of Lake Alpine and Bear Valley. 71 year-old walked away from her campsite on the east end of Lake Alpine around 1400 hours on Thursday 7/28/2016 and has not been seen since. She is described as a white female adult, around 5’ 1” tall, weighing around 130 pounds. She has reddish hair cut short and she wears glasses. She has no known medical issues, but there may be some age related memory issues.

Alpine County is being assisted by many agencies including: Tuolumne County Search and Rescue (SAR), Eldorado County SAR, Marin County SAR, Contra Costa County SAR, CHP, Placer County SAR, Calaveras County SAR, CA Office of Emergency Services, several K-9 tracking teams and the Bay Area Mountain Rescue Unit. So far, the search area has covered around 100 square miles.
