Murphys, CA…The Garden in Murphys, a beautiful venue owned by Steve and Carolyn Gonzales, will be the site of a Hawaiian-themed dinner dance put on by the Murphys Community Club to raise funds to maintain and improve the heavily used Murphys Park. The event will be Saturday, September 10 starting at 6 p.m. The much loved park is the scene of many events throughout the year including First Friday in the Park, Grape Stomp, Calaveras Community Band Concerts, the Angels Murphys Rotary Shrimp Feed, family picnics, weddings, to name a few.

“The park receives no government funds, so it is the club’s responsibility to come up with the money necessary to keep the park in the beautiful condition it is,” says MCC president Sue Friedman. “We do this through park rentals, grants, donations and this annual major fundraiser. We encourage everyone who enjoys the park to join us on September 10.”

The event’s buffet dinner menu will include Kahlua pulled pork, green papaya salad, coconut basmati rice, appetizers and dessert. DJ Sweet Harmony will provide the music for dancing. Tickets are $45 per person. Checks should be made payable to Murphys Community Club and sent to Friedman at 1015 Forest Meadows Dr., Murphys CA 95247 no later than September 3. “We are very fortunate that Steve and Carolyn Gonzales are donating the use of their wonderful site for this occasion,” states Friedman. “It is an ideal location for an event such as this and all in attendance will certainly have an enjoyable evening.”

The Garden in Murphys is located at 577 S. Algiers St., just down the road from the park.

The fundraiser will begin with a no-host bar at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 p.m. Dancing will continue until 10 p.m.

The Murphys Community Club is celebrating its 68th year of providing services and programs for the greater Murphys area. Its prime responsibility is the management and maintenance of the beautiful Murphys Community Park. .
