Angels Camp, CA…Clarence “Smokey” Spreadborough, Aug. 22, 1928 – Aug. 27, 2016. Born in Monterey, CA, moved to Calaveras County, where his mother was born. He and his siblings attended the little two room school house in Altaville and Bret Harte High. Smokey was a Teamster Truck Driver for 40 years, starting with Blagen Lumber in Toyon, in the early 50’s, and then for Calaveras Cement Plant until they closed. His last employer was Winkler Trucking in San Andreas. Smokey was a long time member of the Angels Gun Club, and a member of the Masonic Lodge #33. Smokey loved the mountains and going to the “cabin”. To those who knew him he never had a bad day in his life. He will be sorely missed by all his family and friends.
He is proceeded in death by his father Clarence S. Spreadborough, and his mother Fenetta S. Hamilton, brothers Donald, and Ike Spreadborough, and sisters Lorene S. Butler and Darlene S. Faull, son Kerry and daughter Karyn S. Thomas. He leaves wife Beverly, sister Carol S. Ledbetter, and brother Ron Spreadborough, granddaughter Nichol Davenport and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Funeral services will be held Thursday Sept. 1, at 11:00 A.M. at the San Andreas Memorial Chapel, with a visitation from 9 to 11:00 that morning at the chapel. Burial at the Altaville Protestant Cemetery in Altaville, CA.
A Celebration of his life will be held Sat. Sept. 17, 1:00 P.M., at the Angels Gun Club in Angels Camp, CA
