Bernice Betty Whaley 1924 – 2016

Angels Camp, CA…Bernice Betty Whaley aka Bea aka “the lunch-lady” went to be with the Lord on August 30th at the age of 92 and a half. Bea was born 3/10/1924 in Madera, CA and is of English and Miwok Indian heritage. She spent her childhood in California between Klamath and Tulare where she met her husband, Floyd. She Married at age 20, had 4 children and lived in Tuolumne and Calaveras counties for over 64 years. She was a dedicated member of the Union Congregational Church and was one of the original founders of the Altaville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Bea started the food program for Mark Twain and Bret Harte and served countless students for over 20 years. She loved to play BINGO, loved the mountains, loved to travel and provided care and a listening ear wherever and whenever she was needed.

Preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Whaley, and brother Edward Dewhirst. Survived by her children Roberta Whaley, George Whaley, Brenda Whaley and Eloise Cuslidge; grandchildren David, Dawn, Daniel, Valerie, Kristy, Kimberly, and Alexis; and great grandchildren Deanna, David, Stephen, Aiden, Hannah, Grant, Gavin, Riley, Julianne, and Faith.
The celebration of life will be held at the Union Congregational Church, 1141 Main St., Angels Camp on Friday 9/9/16 at 11am followed by a luncheon.
