West Point, CA… On October 5th, 2016 at 2:11 p.m. CHP received reports of a two vehicle collision on SR-26, east of Higdon Road.

Lynne Cowan of West Point was driving a 2006 Hyundai eastbound on SR-26 while Ronald Rankin of West Point was driving a 2006 Toyota westbound on SR-26. The driver of the Hyundai allowed her vehicle to leave the roadway and enter onto the south shoulder of SR-26. The driver corrected to the left and allowed her vehicle to cross over the double parallel solid yellow lines, into the westbound lane where the front of her vehicle struck the front of the Toyota. Both vehicles came to a rest along the north shoulder of SR-26. Lynne Cowan was transported by ground ambulance to Sutter Amador Hospital. Ronald Rankin was transported by air ambulance to Sutter Roseville Hospital, both drivers suffering from moderate injuries.

Alcohol or drugs are not suspected to be a factor in this collision.
