Angels Camp, CA…On October 30, 2016, at approximately 8:20 PM, an officer from the Angels Camp Police Department made an enforcement stop on a vehicle for not having a front license plate, near the intersection of SR 49 and Whittle Road.
While speaking with the driver the officer could smell the distinct odor of raw marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. The driver told the officer that he had a firearm in the passenger compartment of the vehicle that he carried for personal protection, and stated when asked that he did not have a permit to carry a concealed weapon. He also told the officer that he and his passenger were recently working at a marijuana processing site in Calaveras County.
A 9 MM handgun and two loaded magazines were recovered from the passenger compartment of the vehicle, none of which were stored in a locked container. Approximately 23 grams of marijuana was also recovered from the vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle, Jason Von Flue, a 41 year old Fresno resident, was cited and released for carrying a loaded firearm in a public place.
His passenger Morgan Madison, an 18 year old Fresno resident, was also cited and released for possessing less than one ounce of marijuana.
The firearm and marijuana were logged into evidence at the Angels Camp Police Department.
