Denver, CO…There was a drumline, there were costumes, there was a proclamation from the governor, and – most important of all – there was the contagious optimism you only find when you gather a large group of nonprofits.
On November 29, 2016, hundreds of nonprofit representatives turned out at the Colorado State Capitol to rally support for Colorado Gives Day, the second largest online giving event in the nation.
Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper proclaims Dec. 6 as Colorado Gives Day. He and hundreds of others gathered at the state Capitol on Tuesday to promote charitable giving to nonprofits through ColoradoGives.org.
Colorado Gives Day, powered by Community First Foundation, is a movement that inspires and unites thousands of donors to give to their favorite local nonprofits online. This year, Colorado Gives Day is on December 6, 2016. For more information about Colorado Gives Day or to make a donation to a participating nonprofit, please visit ColoradoGives.org.
“This is my favorite time of the year,” said Kevin Shipley, Executive Director of Golden Retriever Rescue of the Rockies. “The donations we receive on Colorado Gives Day cover the costs of almost all our major surgeries for the year, including more than 30 hip, elbow, and ACL operations.”
“Colorado Gives Day is more than just a day,” said Marla J. Williams, President and CEO of Community First Foundation. “It’s a movement. People love where they live, so they give where they live.”
For the seventh year, Community First Foundation is partnering with Firstbank to provide the $1 Million Incentive Fund to inspire philanthropy and power community. The fund increases the value of each donation to the more than 2,000 Colorado nonprofits featured on http://ColoradoGives.org.
“The rally is a fun ‘last hurrah’ before the big day,” said Williams. Now, nonprofits and Coloradans across the state are rallying support for their causes in the last days before December 6. Learn about the ways you can give at ColoradoGives.org.
