Arnold, CA…Kern Taylor Matlock, age 85, passed away with his family by his side on the evening of
November 26, 2016, due to complications from pneumonia.

Kern was born to Marcus and Thelma Matlock in San Jose, CA. Kern married Betsy O’Gara in San Mateo, CA, on November 29, 1958, following their graduation from San Jose State in June of that year. He served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force and was an Industrial Engineer at Lockheed Martin for over 30 years. Kern was a cherished husband, father and grandfather who loved his family, his friends and the outdoors, particularly around the Arnold area. His passion was his MGs and car club, restoring vintage gas pumps and collecting gasoline company memorabilia.

Kern is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betsy Matlock, his sister Mary Shore (Michael), his four children, Steve Matlock (Kim), Shelby Guarino (John) , Zoe’ Chiaramonte (Joe), Adam Matlock (Denika), and six grandchildren (David Chiaramonte, Shelby and Chris Guarino, Bailey, Marcus and Lincoln Matlock).

Private family services were conducted on Saturday, December 3, 2016.
