Tuolumne, CA…Thursday evening just after 10 PM, Dep. Knapp initiated a traffic enforcement stop on a 2001 black Nissan Frontier pickup after it failed to stop at a stop sign at Willow St. and Main St. in Tuolumne City.
The driver was identified as 26 year old Andrew John Labriola and his passenger, 31 year old Rachael Lynn Thomas both of Sonora. A records check showed the vehicle was stolen. Labriola and Thomas were detained and an investigation was conducted.
Labriola claimed he bought the vehicle in Modesto from an unknown Hispanic male for $1000.00 and the male did not have the pink slip for the vehicle.
Labriola and Thomas both admitted they suspected the vehicle was stolen. Labriola admitted to painting the vehicle black and still had black paint on his hands and clothing.
The vehicle was turned over to CHP to be returned to the owner who lives locally.
Labriola and Thomas were booked into the Tuolumne County Jail for possession of a stolen vehicle. During a search of Labriola’s wallet, a credit card not belonging to him was found. The card was taken by the Deputy and follow up will be conducted to make sure it was not stolen.
