Angels Camp, CA…On 01/08/17, at approximately 6:40 PM, officers were dispatched to a physical fight in the 600 block of Stanislaus Avenue. Upon arrival officers found that the victim was transported via ambulance prior to their arrival and the suspect, identified by witnesses as Justin Gadberry, fled prior to officers arriving. Investigation and witness statements revealed that the victim and Gadberry were involved in a verbal argument over the front door to the apartment being left open, which escalated to a physical fight.
Gadberry reportedly retrieved a frying pan from the apartment and struck the victim in the face, causing a laceration that required sutures. The victim was interviewed by officers at the Mark Twain Medical Center, while receiving treatment for his injuries. Officers have been looking for Gadberry since the incident occurred.
On 01/27/17, at approximately 7:10 PM, an officer saw Gadberry driving through Angels Camp and recalled that he was wanted in this case. He made a traffic stop and placed Gadberry under arrest. During the arrest Gadberry attempted to resist arrest by pulling away from the officer and had to be physically restrained prior to handcuffing. As a result of his resisting arrest, Gadberry was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for additional charges related to resisting a peace officer, as well as the original charges of assault with a deadly weapon (frying pan) and battery causing serious bodily injury.
Justin Gadberry is a 22 year old transient male that claims Angels Camp as his home.
