Murphys, CA…The Calaveras County Commission on Aging prioritized 2017 goals and objectives at a lively session held at Common Ground Senior Services in San Andreas on February 3, 2017. Very high on the list is to familiarize volunteers with the organization and its works. Towards this goal, the March Commission on Aging meeting March 3, 2017 will be held at the Murphys Senior Center, 65 Mitchler Avenue in Murphys at 10 am. Commissioner vacancies exist in Districts 1, 2 and 3 and the necessary volunteer form will be made available for anyone interested in applying.

Established and other prioritized projects for the Commission are the annual World Elder Abuse Awareness Day in June, Recognition for Volunteer Senior of the Year, distribution of the Vial of Life, the Senior Scope, detailing available senior services with locations and phone numbers. In 2017, the Commission looks to host a Calaveras County Centenarian of the Year.
