Sonora, CA…On Sunday, March 5th, 2017, at approximately 8:18 p.m, the Sonora Police Department was called for a report of an intoxicated driver at McDonald’s in Sonora. The caller stated a green Jeep Wrangler had run into the vehicle in front of it several times while in the drive-through.
When the initial officer arrived on scene, he identified 25-year-old Raymond Samuel Kelaita as the driver of the Jeep. Kelaita, a Sonora resident, displayed objective symptoms of alcohol intoxication and was subsequently arrested for driving a motor vehicle while intoxicated. At the time the investigation, Kelait’s blood-alcohol level was determined to be over three times the legal limit and he was unable to walk or stand on his own.
The collision investigation into this matter is still on-going and thankfully nobody was injured as a result of Kelaita’s actions. Kalait was booked at the Tuolumne County Jail for DUI later that evening.
Raymond Kelaita was also arrested for DUI by the Sonora Police Department in January of 2015 where he was determined to be at-fault in a collision that occurred on Shepherd Street.
