Angels Camp, CA…On Friday, 03/10/17, at approximately 2 PM an officer from the Angels Camp Police Department was dispatched to meet with a CHP officer that had a subject detained near the intersection of Stanislaus Avenue and Oneida Street. Upon arrival the officer found that CHP had detained Christopher Brian Dodge, a 38 year old male. Dodge is a convicted sex offender that is out of compliance with registration requirements. Per CA State Law, convicted sexual offenders are required to register with the law enforcement agency that has jurisdictional responsibility for their place of residence.
The Angels Camp Police Department recently became aware of the fact that Dodge is out of compliance with his registration requirements. On 02/23/17, at approximately 9:50 AM an officer was dispatched to the area of Stanislaus Avenue and San Joaquin Avenue, where Dodge was reported to be walking in the field behind Froggy’s Carwash. The officer was unable to locate Dodge on that date, and an informational bulletin with Dodge’s picture and information was circulated to personnel within the department. Staff has been attempting to locate Dodge since that date.
The Angels Camp officer questioned Dodge, who admitted that he has lived in Angels Camp for approximately six (6) months, and that he failed to register with the police department when he moved to Angels Camp from the Arnold area. Per State Law, offenders have five (5) business days to register with a law enforcement agency that has jurisdictional responsibility for their place of residence.
Dodge was transported and booked into the Calaveras County Jail, on charges related to failing to register as a sexual offender, moving without registering as a sexual offender, and loitering near a school.
