Sonora, CA…A collision occurred on SR49/108 just south of the intersection of Bell Mooney and Harvard Mine Road. At the time Highway maintenance was being conducted and one way traffic control was set up. At approximately 9:55 p.m., Patricia Aguiar, was stopped in her 2005 Toyota, stopped by traffic control personnel for a short time within the northbound traffic lane. At that time Ian Stogdell was driving his 1995 Toyota northbound, approaching Patricia Aguiar’s stopped vehicle.
Stogdell failed to stop his vehicle for the stopped traffic ahead and rear ended Patricia Aguiar’s vehicle. The force of the impact caused 1-2 feet of intrusion into the rear of the 2005 Toyota and major front end damage to the 1995 Toyota. After the collision Ian Stogdell immediately turned his vehicle around and fled from the collision scene southbound on SR49/108. Stogdell stopped his vehicle on Montezuma Road, approximately 2 miles from the collision, then exited and continued to flee on foot. Ian Stogdell was located approximately 10:50 p.m. in a field near his vehicle. Stogdell was taken into custody and taken to Sonora Regional Medical Center, where he was treated for his injuries sustained in the collision. Alcohol intoxication is believed to be a factor in this collision.
