Valley Springs, CA…On 04/27/17 at about 2345 hours, The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 400 block of La Contenta Drive in Valley Springs for a 9-1-1 call. An 83-year-old victim reported that 38-year-old Jeffrey Alan Greg had strangled and assaulted her. The female victim told deputies that she locked herself in her bedroom, but the suspect kicked the door in. She was able to escape the house and call 911.
Deputies and California Highway Patrol officers responded. Suspect Jeffrey Greg barricaded himself in a room and refused to exit. Deputies attempted to negotiate with the suspect with negative results. Deputies forced entry into the room and the suspect physically attacked the deputies. The suspect actively resisted by kicking and punching at officers for an excess of 10 minutes. It took four deputies and two CHP officers to get the suspect into custody. Two Calaveras deputies were injured in the struggle and were transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment. Suspect Jeffrey Greg was also injured while being taken into custody and was transported to an area hospital. Jeffrey Greg admitted to deputies that he was under the influence of a controlled substance. The 83-year-old victim received medical treatment on scene and was released.
At the time of the press release, the deputies and suspect have been released from the hospital. Jeffrey Greg is currently being held in the Calaveras County Jail on the charges of 243(c)(2)PC (Battery again a Peace Officer), 368(b)(1)PC (Cause Harm of Dependent), 422 PC (Criminal Threats), 148(a)(1)PC (Obstruct Resist a Peace Officer), 236PC (False Imprisonment), and 69PC (Resist an Executive Officer); Bail $1,225,000.
