Seven To Compete For 80th Annual Miss Calaveras Tiara

Angels Camp, CA…(Frogtown, USA)…Seven accomplished young women from across Calaveras County will compete for the title of Miss Calaveras County 2017 at 8:00 pm on Thursday, May 18 at the 2017 Miss Calaveras County Scholarship Pageant. These young women will participate in four phases of competition, including a personal interview, a health and fitness demonstration, a talent segment, and an evening gown speech.

The winner will join history, as 2017 celebrates the 80th anniversary of the Miss Calaveras program, which began as the Belle of the Camp competition in 1937. Former Miss Calaveras winners – also known as “frog queens” – will be part of a special opening presentation, walking the stage in their tiaras once again to celebrate the program’s legacy.

Miss Calaveras County 2017 will win a $1000 scholarship, as well as an iconic tiara and sash to wear as she represents Calaveras County throughout the year. The First Princess will receive a $600 scholarship, and the Second Princess will receive a $400 scholarship, as well as royal regalia.

Scholarships will also be awarded to the contestants who are named Miss Community Service, Miss Congeneality, Most Photogenic and Most Talented, as well as the contestants who win the Director’s Award and the Alice Julian Poetry Award.

The pageant will be hosted by Rotarians Dwayne Garcia & Tammy Beilstein. The Miss Calaveras Scholarship Pageant is sponsored by the Angels-Murphys Rotary, with support provided by Lucky King of Bandera of California, Dottie Bates of Famous D Productions, Jen Stock of the Angels Camp Body Shop, Sonny and Sharon Canepa, and Blooms and Things of Angels Camp.

Meet the seven outstanding young women competing in this year’s pageant, and find out who takes the crown home on Thursday night at the Main Stage.
