Mi-Wuk Village, CA…Mi-Wuk Sugar Pine Fire Protection District Fire Board accepted the resignation of Chief Larry Crabtree at the May 9, 2017 board meeting. “It is with a heavy heart that I make this decision,” said Crabtree, yet, “I’m going out on a high note.” Crabtree will continue in the position of Chief until May 1, 2018.
Crabtree has been with MWSPFPD since the spring of 2013 bringing with him more than 4 decades of firefighting and fire administration experience.
During his tenure with MWSPFPD Crabtree has overseen crews during the RIM Fire, death with the devastation of the bark beetle infestation and brought in more than $250,000.00 in grant funding to the district.
“It is my hope that providing a year to plan (for a replacement) this will enable the district to take appropriate steps including monitoring the unfolding Strategic Plan, the current Tuolumne County Fire Services Study, as well as the pending LAFCo Municipal Services Review.”
In retirement Crabtree will continue to operate his consulting company, Crabtree Consulting Services, LLC, which provides services to smaller public agencies filling the gap by offering recruitment of high level officers, strategic planning, collective bargaining, policy formation and more. Yet he hopes to enjoy lots of camping and fishing.
“I will remain in the area and will remain active in a volunteer status (upon retirement),” assured Crabtree.
