Jamestown – On May 25, 2017 at approximately 2:50 pm, 22 year old Jamestown resident, Vanessa Muniz, was driving a 2006 Pontiac Vive, stopped southbound on State Route 49/108, in the left turn lane to Main Street, yielding to oncoming traffic. At this time, 53 year old Jamestown resident, Richard Bennett, was driving a 1998 Honda Civic, traveling northbound on State Route 49/108, approaching Main Street, while fatigued. Bennet fell asleep at the wheel of the Honda an allowed his vehicle to travel over the solid double yellow lines, into the front end of Muniz’ vehicle.
Muniz, Bennett, and Bennett’s passenger, 47 year old Jamestown resident, Marlinda Russo, were all transported to Sonora Regional Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries. All occupants were wearing seatbelts and there was no suspicion of alcohol or drugs to be a factor in the collision.
