Joseph Warren Barry, 24 From San Jose Lost His Life In Fiery Collision On Hwy 108 (Updated)

Sonora, CA…On May 29, 2017 at approximately 11:55 pm, a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Joseph Warren Barry, 24 From San Jose, eastbound on State Route 108, east of Argyle Road, at an unknown speed. For unknown reasons, the driver allowed the vehicle to drift onto the right shoulder. The Silverado struck a fiberglass reflective marker, several tree branches and finally a large oak tree. A fire started within the vehicle, subsequently fully engulfing the Silverado in flames. The driver, solo occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Emergency personnel conducted one-way traffic control for approximately 2.5 hours while the fire was extinguished and the vehicle removed from the scene. The collision is still under investigation and it is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in this collision.

The driver has been identified as 24 year old Joseph Warren Barry from San Jose, California. Barry had most recently been residing in the Twain Harte community.
