Sonora Pass/SR-108 Now Open For The Summer…Not Yet For Ebbetts

Tuolumne County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has removed the winter snow, cleared the debris and made the necessary repairs to open State Route 108 (SR-108) over Sonora Pass at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 13, 2017. The diligent work of Caltrans crews enabled the opening of the pass for motorists who utilize this route. Sonora Pass rises to 9,623 feet, making it the second-highest pass in the Sierra, and this is only the third time since 1980 that it was not open by Memorial Day weekend. Ebbetts Pass over SR-4 in Alpine County is expected to remain closed into July, due to an extensive road repair project near Wolf Creek.
