Calaveras County Woman Arrested After Fleeing Burglary On Big Hill Road

Sonora, CA…From the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Dept….”This morning at 9:42 AM, the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a burglary in progress at a cabin in the 16000 block of Big Hill Road in Sonora. The property manager gave the dispatcher a license plate number and said a man and woman just left the scene in a white Toyota pickup towards Columbia with a dresser and numerous containers in the truck. As the suspect was fleeing the scene, he attempted to hit another property manager with his pickup. Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Detectives were in the area investigating an unrelated incident when they spotted the Toyota and attempted to pull the vehicle over. The Toyota failed to yield and a short pursuit ensued. The pickup slowed down and the male driver jumped out and fled on foot while the truck was still in motion. His female passenger was still in the truck when it went over an embankment and crashed into a tree. The woman passenger, identified as 33 year old Raven Chapter of Calaveras County, exited the truck and attempted to flee on foot and was apprehended.

Deputies searched the area for the male suspect and did not locate him. Chapter was taken to Sonora Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. A search of the truck produced methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and burglary tools. Numerous stolen items including a dresser, table, snow sled, copper utensils, autographed sports memorabilia and clothing totaling approximately $3800 were located in the bed of the pickup. The stolen property was returned to its rightful owner.

Chapter is facing charges of conspiracy, burglary, possession of burglary tools, possession of stolen property, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting arrest.”
