Project Location: The project is located in Calaveras County, approximately 3.2 miles north of the communities of Altaville and Angels Camp, and 4.5 miles northeast of State Route 49 along Dogtown Road.

Project Description: The Calaveras County Public Works Department’s proposes to replace the existing Dogtown Road Bridge over San Domingo with a new structure. The new structure will be approximately 73.5 feet long and 26 feet wide. The structure will accommodate two 10-foot travel lanes with 2-foot shoulders and barrier rails. The new bridge will be a two-span, cast-in-place reinforced concrete slab supported on a reinforced concrete pier wall and end diaphragm abutments on spread footings.

In addition, the sections of Dogtown Road adjacent to the bridge will need to be realigned to allow the bridge to be built in its final location. Approximately 500 linear feet of new roadway will be constructed. The new north approach of Dogtown Road will be 195.5 feet in length and the new south approach will be 231 feet in length. Both new roadways will have two 10-foot lanes with 2-foot shoulders. Metal beam guardrails will be placed at the approaches to the bridge barriers.

Phased construction will be implemented to maintain traffic operations during construction. Project construction is anticipated to be completed in 2021 (one construction season).
