Angels Camp, CA…Doris Barger, founder and first president of the Mark Twain Hospital Foundation thirty one years ago, will once again delight golf participants with her traditional golf cart tour of the Greenhorn Creek golf course during play on June 8 at the golf outing named in her honor.
The tournament is a favorite of local golfers and includes a lively auction during dinner that includes an O.A.R.S trip on the Rogue River, a week’s stay in Punta Mita, Mexico, a long weekend at Sea Ranch, a wine tasting and dinner for eight at The Cellar Room at Camps and a dinner for eight at Jordan Oaks Vineyard and it’s Chateau Nuala…this prepared by the golf committee itself! Another crowd favorite is a competition between Greenhorn’s golf pros to see who can get the highest bid on golf lessons for 4 people.
This year is a special one, as the Foundation is closing in on the final dollars needed to fund the Angel’s Camps Medical Center that will be built on Stanislaus Avenue at Highway 49. This site was identified several years ago by the late Jim Dalton, who was a board member and headed fund development.
Golf will commence at 12:30pm with a shotgun start and scramble/best ball format. The $150 package includes green’s fees, cart, swag bag and dinner at Camp’s Restaurant immediately following play. A putting contest, hole in one contest, live auction and raffle all add to the day’s fun.
For information on sponsorship, golf participation or joining as a dinner guest, please call or email Paul Mundy at Paul.Mundy@dignityhealth.com or (209) 754-2603.
