Calaveras County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform one-way traffic control on eastbound and westbound State Route 26 (SR-26) from Gee Lane to County View Drive for traffic signal work. Work will begin Sunday, July 9, 2017, to Friday, July 14, 2017, from 7:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m. Motorists should expect 10 minute delays. Alternate routes should be taken whenever possible.
The work at this location will install a traffic signal and widen the intersection of Vista del Lago and SR-26 near Valley Springs. Key elements of the project include:
Installation of a four-way stoplight with protective turn lights for motorists turning left onto Vista del Lago;
Lengthening of existing left-turn lanes; Widening of the roadway and intersection to accommodate commercial vehicles;
Improving the efficiency of travel and traffic safety at this intersection to reduce the likelihood of broad-side collisions.
The project is scheduled to be completed in August 2017. This $1.4 million project has been awarded to George Reed, Inc.
Work is scheduled to begin as listed, but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/or materials and construction related issues.
