Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Deputies Do Great Work Catching Thieves

Sonora, CA…On Saturday morning, the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a concerned citizen who reported finding opened mailboxes on Bostwick Road near Rawhide Road in Sonora. A Deputy checked the area and did not find any suspicious people or vehicles.

Later in the day, a Deputy came across a blue 2005 Saturn SUV parked on Bergel Road under the Highway 108 overpass in Sonora. Two men, Timothy Logan and Timothy Squires were contacted with the vehicle. Both men are from Isleton, CA and a records check confirmed Logan to be on searchable probation out of Yolo County.

A search of the vehicle began which turned up stolen mail from the area of the earlier call for service. Numerous large tools, such as a chainsaw, pneumatic air wrench, and an angle grinder were also found. Deputies discovered a local business, TypeOne Tree Service, had been burglarized.

An employee of the business was contacted and he identified more than $3,000 worth of tools and gear which had been stolen from a storage container. Those items, along with the stolen mail, were returned to their rightful owners.

Both men were arrested for criminal conspiracy, burglary, possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools (wire cutters, sledge hammer, pry bars…), and possession of blank checks (an article of the stolen mail) with the intent to defraud. Their SUV was towed from the scene.
