End of the Line for Bus Service to Stockton

San Andreas, CA…The Delta Gold Line will make its last trip on July 28. The bus service between San Andreas and Stockton has been discontinued. The Delta Gold Line began service in January 2016 to provide Calaveras County residents with public transportation to the Amtrak and Greyhound stations, Delta College, shopping, and medical facilities in Stockton. But ridership has been too low to justify the high cost of operating the service.

Just over half of the cost of operating the service was provided by a federal grant through the Rural Intercity Bus Program (FTA 5311f). Fare revenues have made up only about 5 percent of the operating cost. The balance of operating costs is covered by California Local Transportation Funds, which can now be redirected to support transportation services that are more closely aligned with the needs of County residents.
