Sonora, CA…A traffic stop was conducted early Friday morning on a gray Honda Accord for speeding. The Honda turned into the Wal-Mart parking lot and when it came to a stop, a man jumped out and started running towards the Applebee’s restaurant. The Deputy notified additional units in the area and then contacted 25-year-old driver Jenna Caples and 32-year-old passenger, Joshua Caudill. The pair gave deputies a false name of the man who fled from the car and claimed they had just met him.
A records check of both occupants revealed Caples was wanted on 5 misdemeanor warrants and Caudill was in violation of his probation for failing to register as a narcotic offender. Both occupants are on searchable probation and during a search of the vehicle, several items of drug use paraphernalia were found.
35-year-old Michael O’Toole Jr. was located hiding in a bush near the Applebee’s dumpster. O’Toole is on parole for burglary and had two warrants out for his arrest. One warrant was for a parole violation and the other warrant was for burglary and being in possession of stolen property.
Caples and Caudill eventually admitted to knowing O’Toole was the man who fled from the car. O’Toole, Caples, and Caudill were placed under arrest and transported to the Tuolumne County Jail.
O’Toole was booked for the mentioned warrants and for obstructing/resisting a peace officer.
Caples was booked for possession of drug paraphernalia, accessory, and for five drug related warrants.
Caudill was booked for accessory and violating probation for failing to register as a narcotic offender.
