Sonora, CA…Adventist Health Sonora will hold its 17th Annual Joie de Vie Gala at Ironstone Vineyards on Sunday, September 17, 2017. All proceeds from the benefit event will go to its Cancer Patient Support Fund, which assists patients with their unmet financial needs, such as transportation, groceries, utilities, rent, house cleaning and medication co-payments. This year’s Gala will include a Roaring Twenties-themed dinner and entertainment, and a silent and live auction featuring items such as artwork, dinners, gift baskets and vacation opportunities. The Gala will also feature keynote speaker Junior Bryant, former San Francisco 49er.
Also on the Gala program is the presentation of the annual Irving Symons Award, which recognizes long-term, outstanding community service. This year’s recipients are Don and Charlotte Frazier of Sonora. Former recipients of the award include Irving Symons, Frank Salel, H. Randolph Holder, Robert Cutler, Pete Kerns, Pete and Sue Kleinert, Joe Martin, Chuck and Willy Evans, Mary Laveroni, Patricia and Harvey Rhodes, Ty Wivell, Dick and Audrey Pland, and Kate Powell Segerstrom.
McRee says the Joie de Vie Gala is an opportunity for Cancer Center supporters to come together for a great cause. “We always want to make this a fun and memorable event for the people who support us in improving cancer care in our community,” she says. “This year, we moved the event date up a month in order to avoid winter weather, and we are adding more fun opportunities for people to give via the auctions, such as mobile bidding.” McRee adds that the event has already garnered a number of early sponsors such as: Keynote Sponsors: Black Oak Casino Resort and Tuolumne Band of Me-Wuk Indians; Gold Sponsors: California Gold Development Corp., Chicken Ranch Casino, Andrew and Marlena Jahn, Micro-Tronics, Royce Construction & Design, Inc. and Yosemite Pathology Medical Group; Silver Sponsors: Affiliates in Imaging, Blue Mountain Minerals, Mary Jo Brereton, Clarke Broadcasting, Dr. Phong Dargon, Don and Charlotte Frazier, Shari Lyons, Dr. Fred and Darlene Mathews, Dr. Fred Shield, Sierra Emergency Medical Group, UV Skinz and Wheeler & Egger, CPAs; Bronze Sponsors: Cutler-Segerstrom Insurance Agency, Airell Nygaard, MD and Oak Valley Community Bank. “We are blessed to have such a supportive family of businesses and individuals in this community. Our Cancer Patient Support Fund continues to help cancer patients during trying times because of the generosity of these supporters.”
