Angels Camp Man Arrested For Vehicle Theft, Assault With a Deadly Weapon & More!

Jamestown, CA…On Wednesday, August 16, 2017, at approximately 3:30 am, CHP was notified by Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office that they were in pursuit of a white Honda Sedan which was reported stolen out of Modesto. The Honda led the deputies at high speeds through Tuolumne, Sonora, and Jamestown and at one point intentionally struck a deputy’s patrol vehicle. At approximately 3:50 am, Sheriffs requested CHP to take over the pursuit. The Honda then led the Sonora Area CHP unit westbound on State Route 108 at speeds of up to 80 mph and driving in opposite lanes (wrong way) at times. A Modesto CHP unit was able to successfully deploy a spike strip on State Route 108 near Wamble Road. The Honda continued westbound even though the tires began to come apart.

The Honda drove through some residential roads in Oakdale and at 4:17 am, the suspect stopped the vehicle and fled on foot. A short foot pursuit entailed and the suspect was apprehended at approximately 4:19 am. The suspect was identified as 28 year old Angels Camp resident, Ryan David Ashlock. Ashlock was booked into Tuolumne County Jail for felony charges of vehicle theft, reckless evading, possession of stolen property, resisting arrest, and assault with a deadly weapon. Ashlock’s bail is set at $50,000.
