Angels Camp, CA…Richard Rudolph Richina, 89, of Angels Camp, Ca., passed away August 27, 2017 of natural causes. He was born January 12, 1928 in Manteca, Ca. to Albert James and Rhobia Belle Richina. He received his bachelors and masters degree in Agriculture from California State Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo. He also attended University of Pacific, Stockton, Ca. and California State University, Stanislaus, in Turlock, Ca.
In 1946, he left college and enlisted in the United States Army as a Key Punch Operator until 1947.
He then began teaching, as an agriculture instructor at both Manteca and East Union High Schools. His teaching and his students were his life. In 1968, he joined Modesto Junior College as a counselor and an instructor in the agriculture department, and the automotive department, where he taught until he retired. In 2006, He was inducted into the Manteca Hall of Fame , for his contribution to the Young Farmer Program and to FFA programs for the Manteca Agriculture Community.
He enjoyed raising sheep, pigs and cattle. He often played golf with his many friends and his brother. He enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, and fishing. His fondest memories were being involved in the County Fair Boards and being a County Fair Judge. He and his wife retired to Angels Camp where he did volunteer work for the American Red Cross.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother Albert Richina and sister in law, Rose Richina. He is survived by his wife, Delia Richina; sister Marjorie Moorman of Manteca, Ca and several children, Catherine Richina Fatzer of Manteca, Ca., Richard Richina of Manteca, Ca., Christine Richina Hughey of Arizona, Cynthia Richina Gabert of Florida, Carrie Burruel of Denair, Ca., Renee Nolte, Colleen D’Annunzio, and Michael Toberer all from North Carolina, Brian Toberer of Turlock, Ca. He has 25 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren.
The Rosary/Mass will be at Saint Patricks Catholic Church in Angels Camp, Ca. On Saturday, September 9th 9 am. Interment immediately following mass at the Angels Camp Catholic Cemetery.
