Start Date: 9/3/2017
Cause: Lightning
Acres burned: 1,292
Containment: 25%
Total personnel: 67
Summary
Fire activity is minimal to due precipitation received over night. The fire is smoldering and creeping in some areas. A warming trend over the weekend will facilitate the low intensity backing fire west along the ridge from 7290’ toward Forest System (FS) road 3N29, to the north side near Clear Lake towards Lily Creek and on the south side near FS road 3N27Y towards Bourland Mountain

Objectives:
Firefighter and public safety.
Use minimum impact suppression tactics (MIST) by utilizing trails, ridges and natural barriers for firelines.
Protect California Spotted Owl Protected Activity Center (PAC) in the fire area.

Planned activity for today: Crews continue to monitor the fire. As favorable weather allows, firefighters will use a low intensity backing fire to remove fuels from the fire’s edge to the fireline and underneath the timber stands to prevent a high intensity fire.

Weather Outlook: Cooler temperatures and higher humidity are forecast. Rain showers are possible today in the mountains through Friday. A drying trend will follow into the weekend which should make for better conditions to let fire back in the established perimeter lines.
Soft Closures:
Road intersections: 3N29/3N26, 3N01/3N16, 3N29/3N21
Rock Creek Trail (19E12) and Bell Meadow (20E17)
