Jamestown, CA…California State Parks, Railtown 1897 State Historic Park (SHP) and the California State Railroad Museum Foundation are proud to present lantern-lit “Tales of the Roundhouse” haunted tours and train rides on two special evenings – Friday, October 20 & Saturday, October 21, 2017, starting at 7 p.m. each night. Led by engaging and entertaining guides, “Tales of the Roundhouse” participants will hear the real life and death tales of past railroad workers and passengers who lost their lives in ghastly accidents, gruesome train wrecks and sometimes by cold-blooded murder.
First introduced in 2016, “Tales of the Roundhouse” guests will have the special opportunity to tour the historic park after dark while listening to intriguing, railroad-related ghost stories. Evening visitors will also enjoy going behind-the-scenes with special access to the historic Roundhouse, machine shop, and blacksmith shop. Plus, guests will experience a nighttime steam train ride behind the famous Sierra No. 3® “Movie Star” locomotive while being accompanied by lingering spirits — who some say still haunt the grounds – and hearing how they came to their grisly and untimely ends.
Limited space is available and advance tickets are recommended for these special two-hour “Tales of the Roundhouse” haunted tours and evening train rides at Railtown 1897 SHP. Tickets cost $25 per person ($21 for members) and are available at www.railtown1897.org. Due to the nature of the tour content, the “Tales of the Roundhouse” event is not recommended for guests under 12 years of age.
