Bret Harte FFA Brings the GOLD to Angels Camp ~ Ashlynn Maddeaux

Angels Camp, CA…On September 27th, the Bret Harte FFA Chapter participated in the FFA Mountain School opening and closing contest at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds. The Calaveras FFA Chapter hosted the contest not only for Bret Harte FFA, but also Sutter Creek FFA, and Sonora FFA. The competition consisted of three different levels beginning with the Greenhand Teams (freshman students only), the Open Teams (mixture of Sophomore, Juniors & Seniors) and the Chapter Officer Teams (the six elected officers of the chapter). The contest requires a team of officers to recite the opening and closing ceremony from memory and they are judged on presentation, poise and accuracy of speech.

The Bret Harte FFA Chapter was proudly represented with one Chapter Officer team, two Open teams and eight Greenhand teams with over 50 students competing. The Chapter Officer team was awarded a GOLD award, both open teams were awarded GOLDS and the five Greenhand teams brought in five GOLDS and three SILVER award! Overall, Bret Harte FFA won the Outstanding Open Team with team members Kaili Mills (President), Morgan Middleton (Vice President), Morgan Rolleri (Secretary), Pearl Rollings (Treasurer), Jocelyn Gomez (Reporter), and Devon Pryor (Sentinel), Bret Harte FFA won the Outstanding officer team with team members Kaegen Moore (President), Emily Bolton (Vice President), Andrea Diep (Secretary), Kylie Nordvik (Treasurer), Ashlynn Maddeaux (Reporter), and Taylor Fassbender (Sentinel)

Living up to this year’s motto, the Bret Harte FFA Chapter continues to realize that “it always seems impossible until it is done” to make our dreams of GOLD come true.
