Angels Camp, CA…Donna Ann McGeorge, 63, of Angels Camp, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Adventist Health in Sonora, California, from a short battle with brain cancer. She was born on December 5, 1953 in San Andreas, California, to Doris and Chris Porovich. Surviving are her husband of 45 years, Gary McGeorge of Angels Camp; mother Doris Porovich of Angels Camp; two daughters, Sara Tutthill (C.T.) of Murphys and Holly Shaw (Ben) of Rancho Murieta; one granddaughter, Makenna Tutthill; three grandsons, Bradey Tutthill, Dylan Shaw and Hunter Shaw; two brothers Gary Porovich (Siri) of Eureka, Nevada, and David Porovich (Laura) of Jamestown,; and numerous cousins and relatives in Calaveras County. Donna lived her entire life in Angels Camp, growing up on Porovich Hill. After graduating high school from Bret Harte in 1972, she got her cosmetology license and briefly practiced as a hair stylist before moving on to work for Mark Twain Elementary for 22 years.
After retirement, she focused all of her time and energy on her grandchildren. She found great joy in watching them participate in sports and would attend nearly every game, passing on her competitive spirit. Donna was a huge Giants Fan and loved to take her grandchildren to Spring Training in Arizona every year, especially collecting autographs from players. Outside of sports, Donna loved to go camping with her husband and grandchildren. Her favorite spot was Spicer’s Reservoir, where the fifth wheel would be parked all summer long. She also loved playing bunko on Friday nights, afternoon card games with the ladies, Elvis, country music, and baking sweets for her family. Her Elaborate birthday cakes are legendary. As she requested, there will be a private memorial service for immediate family members only. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the American Brain Tumor Association (abta.org), or to the Calaveras County Humane Society.
