Sacramento, CA…California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) Director Mark Ghilarducci today secured three additional Fire Management Assistance Grants (FMAG) from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to help ensure the availability of vital resources to suppress wildfires burning in Lake, Orange and Napa counties. The FMAGs also enable local, state and tribal agencies to recover eligible costs.

The Canyon II Fire has already burned more than 4,500 acres, threatening lives and property near the area west of Gypsum Canyon in Orange County.

The Sulphur Fire, in Clearlake Oaks of Lake County, has burned more than 2,500 acres.

The Partrick Fire has burned more than 3,000 acres west of Napa in Napa County.

Cal OES is working with multiple response agencies to mobilize mutual aid strike teams and firefighters as well as fire engines, dozers, water tenders and aircraft.

Cal OES Fire, Law Enforcement, Inland Region and Southern Region personnel are currently working with other response agencies to address all emergency management, law enforcement, evacuation and mutual aid needs for the incident.

The federal grant, which is provided through the President’s Disaster Relief Fund on cost-share basis, will assist local, state and tribal agencies responding to the fire to apply for 75-percent reimbursement of their eligible fire suppression costs.
