Kansas Traffic Stop & 30lbs of Marijuana Leads to Search Warrant in Rail Road Flat

Rail Road Flat, CA…On 10/6/2017 at approximately 9:00 AM, Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office deputies served a search warrant on a property located near the 4000 Block of Prussian Hill Road in Railroad Flat. The search warrant was a result of a traffic enforcement stop conducted by the Kansas Highway Patrol near Topeka Kansas. During the traffic enforcement stop Troopers located 30 pounds of processed marijuana. It was discovered the owner of the vehicle and occupant had been a registered marijuana grower in Calaveras County. On further investigation it was determined that the Calaveras County commercial cannabis registration for that property had been denied in May of 2017 for failing to complete required documentation.

On 10/5/2017 Calaveras County Sheriff’s Deputies obtained a search warrant for the location. During the search warrant four adults and two juveniles were contacted at the property, 8 marijuana plants and 1.5 pounds of dried marijuana were seized. Additionally deputies located and seized one firearm. A complaint of Unlawful Marijuana Cultivation and Child Endangerment has been filed with the Calaveras County District Attorney.
