The call originated earlier in the evening in Angels Camp, when a victim reported that things had escalated with Sturgeon, over what began as a civil dispute over a piece of jewelry. The victim reported that they had previously received a woman’s ring from Sturgeon, as payment for property that was exchanged between the victim and Sturgeon. Later, Sturgeon demanded payment for the ring, which the victim no longer had in their possession.

Sturgeon reportedly threatened the victim over a period of several days, which included brandishing a large knife at the victim, and arriving at the victim’s residence unannounced. While at the victim’s residence, Sturgeon made reference to people that she had employed to kill the victim. Sturgeon was reportedly armed with a knife on this occasion as well.

Sturgeon was transported and booked into the Calaveras County Jail for a violation of section 422(a) of the CA Penal Code, making criminal threats. The investigating officer also requested that the district attorney’s office review the case for additional charges related to stalking. No weapons were recovered during the arrest.
