Murphys Man Arrested On Drug & Weapons Charges

Angels Camp, CA…On October 26, 2017 at approximately 9:45 AM, an officer from the Angels Camp Police Department observed a Jeep Wrangler driving northbound on Hwy 49 near Copello Drive without a front license plate, and the vehicle’s oversized tires were protruding beyond the vehicle’s fenders by more than 3 inches. The officer stopped the vehicle on Hwy 49 near Carol Kennedy Drive.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as 41 year old Murphys resident, Christopher Friday. Friday was found to be driving on a suspended license and was issued a citation for driving without a valid license.

Prior to inventorying the vehicle’s contents and impounding the vehicle, an Angels Camp PD K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle. While inventorying the vehicle the officer located a handgun that was reported stolen in an out of county burglary, a second unregistered handgun, 2 knives, 10 syringes, a large rubber band, .3 grams of methamphetamine, ammunition, a digital scale, and a marijuana smoking pipe. Due to follow-up investigation related to the recovered stolen handgun, additional details cannot be released at this time.

Friday was arrested and booked in to the Calaveras County Jail for the following offenses:
