Angels Camp, CA…It is with great sadness that the family of Dave Silva announces his passing after a brief illness, complicated by his battle with multiple sclerosis, on Thursday, November 30, 2017, at the age of 61 years. Dave will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Patricia Joan (Kingman) Silva and his two sisters, Deborah (Silva) Douglass and Pamela (Silva) Hodges. Dave will also be fondly remembered by his brothers-in-law Roger Douglass and James Hodges, his niece and four nephews, and his great-niece and nine great nephews. Dave was predeceased by his father George Elmer Silva and his nephew Chad James Hodges. He raised three step-children; Nicole, Josh, and Brian Walsh, who he loved until the day he died.
Dave was born at the Eden Hospital in Castro Valley on May 27, 1956. He attended school in Hayward and graduated from Tennyson High School in 1974. He was fun loving, caring, and had an amazing sense of humor. Dave had a special fondness for family, animals, and nature. He loved riding motorcycles, especially Harley-Davidsons, but later he would ride anything with a sidecar that allowed him to continue riding in spite of his disability. He was a fervent Oakland Raider fan, especially fond of the rivalry with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Dave touched the lives of many people from several states with his caring, compassion, and mentorship in many recovery programs. Many have credited Dave with saving their lives.
A celebration in memory of Dave will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 1:00 p.m., at the Country Lane Estates Clubhouse, 302 Elderberry Lane, Angels Camp, CA. In lieu of flowers or donations, Dave would like for everyone to turn up their Bose speakers, listen to good ol’ “Rock n’ Roll”, read George Carlin jokes, and live life to the fullest – just like him!
