Tuolumne Sheriff Deputies Arrest Man Zip Guns & Resisting Arrest

Sonora, CA…The Sheriff’s Office received interesting call Saturday morning. 34-year-old William Castner was reportedly yelling while waving a machete around as he walked near the corner of Main St and Red Hills Rd in Chinese Camp. Castner then took a man’s motorcycle helmet and smashed it on the ground until it broke.

While looking for Castner, deputies found nine homemade “zip guns” in an abandoned house where Castner was squatting. The majority of the guns were loaded with live ammunition. Castner was found down the road and tried to run from deputies. He was taken into custody after a brief struggle and booked into jail for possession of the “zip guns” and resisting arrest.
