Background Information
Horse Plus Humane Society, based in Hohenwald, TN., offers 1-Day Open Door Shelters for Horses throughout the United States. 1-Day Open Door Shelters give horse owners the option to surrender their horse with no cost to them. No horse will be refused, no matter its condition, age, training level or preexisting medical conditions. The 1-Day Open Door Shelter for Horses has three specific goals, each of which furthers Horse Plus Humane Society’s mission of reducing suffering of horses and other members of the equine family. 1: Providing a humane option for horse owners who can no longer keep their horses. 2: Help adoptable horses find their right home.
3: Prevent needless suffering of horses that need end-of-life services.
