Arrests Made After Traffic Stop in Jamestown

Jamestown, CA…From the Tuolumne Sheriff’s Dept…This event happened on March 8th on Wigwam Road in Jamestown. One of our Deputies made a traffic stop on a Buick sedan for suspended registration. Of the three occupants in the car, one was on searchable probation. Two more Deputies arrived on scene to assist with a search of the vehicle.

The driver, 43-year-old Eric Neves, was the first person asked to exit the car. He stands 6’2” tall and weighs in at 300 pounds. Neves admitted to having a weapon on his person but pulled away from Deputies when they tried to pat him down. He ignored their verbal commands so a physical altercation took place until Neves was secured in handcuffs. A knife was removed from his pocket by one of the Deputies.

None of the Deputies involved were hurt. Neves was booked into the Tuolumne County Jail for obstructing and resisting law enforcement after being medically evaluated for minor injuries sustained during the scuffle.

Passenger, 44-year-old Meri Johnson was arrested for possession of drug use paraphernalia. The third person in the car, the probationer, was released from the scene.
