Retired CalFire Fire Captain Mary Fletcher 1957 – 2018

Murphys, CA…Mary Fletcher passed away peacefully on January 29, 2018 after a long illness. She was born on January 23, 1957 in Alameda, CA with her twin sister Martha. Mary attended Carmel High School and went on to receive a B.S. in Graphic Communications at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Mary’s firefighting career spanned over thirty years. She retired in 2010 as a CalFire Fire Captain in Calaveras County. As a First Responder, she touched many lives and loved fighting fires. In retirement, Mary was able to fully pursue her passions which included the perfect crystal, the biggest fish, the widest rack, and training her Red Fox Labrador Flash.

Mary is survived by her parents Jim & Virginia Fletcher, siblings Jo(Kevin) Cunningham, Jon(Debi) Fletcher and Martha Fletcher, plus four nephews and one great niece. Mary’s wonderful spirit, joy and talents will be celebrated at Ironstone Vineyards, 1894 6 Mile Rd, Murphys CA 95247 on Sunday, Apr. 8 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Ken Onstad Benevolent Fund (supports fire fighters and their families) or to a charity of your choice.
