Sonora, CA…From the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office…A Sonora couple received quite a scare early Saturday morning as they were awakened by a man trying to get into their home. Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the home on Feather River Drive in Sonora just before 4 AM for a report of a prowler banging on a door to trying to get inside.
When deputies arrived, 38-year-old Jeremiah Hyde of Sonora emerged from the garage of the home with a strong odor of alcohol emanating from his person.
Deputies learned Hyde had been drinking the evening before and struck a tree somewhere in the Crystal Falls area during his drive home. Hyde said he woke up in an unknown garage and attempted to get out by banging on a locked door while shouting his name to identify himself.
Hyde pushed through door, breaking it and walked outside as deputies arrived. Hyde was unsure where he was or where his truck was located. A deputy drove around the area and located the wrecked truck down in an embankment between Tehachapi Ct. and Autumn Ln.
Thankfully no one else was in the the vehicle.
Hyde was booked into the Tuolumne County Jail with a blood alcohol level of .102
