Medical Center Chooses Contractor for New Pavilion

Sonora, CA…Sonora Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce the final selection of the firm that will construct the new outpatient pavilion and Cancer Center. Quiring General LLC, in alliance with California Gold Development Corporation, was the successful bidder.

While Quiring General (Quiring) will perform as the construction manager and general contractor for the project, the two companies have formed an alliance (Quiring/Cal Gold) which will unite strong local relationships with extensive experience and project management systems to ensure successful execution and completion of the Pavilion.

Jones, Lang LaSalle (JLL), who provides real estate services for Adventist Health, the parent company of Sonora Regional Medical Center, released the Request for Proposals (RFP) in April.
Five companies bid on the project and three were interviewed.

“We are pleased to be able to work with this partnership of two excellent businesses that will leverage their multi-state and local experience to build this important new healthcare facility for our community,” says Andrew Jahn, President and CEO of Sonora Regional Medical Center. “When comparing the qualities of the firms who bid on our project, we looked at their ability to construct an excellent finished product, the price, and their commitment to use local sub-contractors, vendors and suppliers.”

Quiring, based out of Fresno for more than 60 years, has healthcare construction experience, including OSHPD 1 and 3 construction, radiation oncology vaults and infusion therapy, and Cyperknife radio surgery. Quering’s cancer experience started with Fresno Community Hospitals’ first outpatient cancer center built 22 years ago and has continued from that time to include projects like Cancer Care Associates, Sierra Pacific Orthopedic Center and the Deran Koligian Ambulatory Care Center, all in Fresno. “We are delighted to be selected as the successful bidders for this project,” stated Paul Quiring, President of Quiring General LLC. “We are happy to be working with an experienced firm like California Gold, who has great local knowledge and community connections. Combined with our extensive statewide building experience, we feel that we are ‘Better Together’.”

Cal Gold of Sonora, founded in 1978, has consistently built highly successful commercial and residential developments. The corporation comprises two main divisions, the construction/development division and the real estate division. Cal Gold’s healthcare projects include the Outpatient Clinics in both Sonora and Modesto for the Department of Veteran Affairs, the Avalon Skilled Nursing Facility in Sonora and the Sonora Regional Medical Center Prompt Care in Angels Camp. “California Gold/Quiring is blessed and honored to have been selected to build this amazing outpatient pavilion for Sonora Regional Medical Center”, stated Ron Woodall, CEO of Cal Gold. The medical services that will be available as a result of this project are comparable to those offered in the Valley and Bay Area. Our loved ones will only need to travel a few minutes to receive world class healthcare. We look forward to working with the hospital staff to provide this much needed facility for our community.”

In compliance with State environment laws, site work and subsequent construction will begin at the site of the former Andy’s True Value Hardware store at the corner of Greenley Road and Mono Way in the near future.

A community groundbreaking will take place later this summer and construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2016.
