The month of May is significant for the American Legion, it’s Auxiliary, all the veterans and many families in our community because on Memorial Day we honor our fallen veterans.

The American Legion Auxiliary, Valley Springs Unit 102, launched our annual Poppy Distribution Project during May. We continued the tradition of Honoring, and helping our Veterans, by distributing the Veterans-made Poppies in our community. The iconic Poppy has been a symbol of remembering the sacrifices of our injured and fallen members of the military since 1918, when Moina Michael first began distributing Poppies as a way to raise funds to help the disabled Veterans and their families.

All the funds raised in this effort are used EXCLUSIVELY to assist disabled Veterans and their families through our support of the Auxiliary’s Veteran Assistance and Rehabilitation (VA&R) and Children and Youth (C&Y) programs.

We hope that you remembered, in a generous spirit, our American fighting men and women as you considered this request, for your help, to support these important Auxiliary programs. The continuing needs of our Veterans, who protected our freedoms, should be a concern of every American.

On behalf of the American Legion Auxiliary, Valley Springs Unit 102, a heartfelt Thank You to all for your support.
