Angels Camp Resident Arrested for Stabbing

Angels Camp, CA…On May 7, 2018 at approximately 1:25 PM, officers from the Angels Camp Police Department and deputies from the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of a man walking on Booster Way covered in blood and carrying a knife. As officers were responding to the area, a second 911 call was received from a man in the 1100 block of Bret Harte Road stating he had just been stabbed.

When officers arrived in the area, they located 22 year old Angels Camp resident, Michael Madrid, standing outside of a residence near the 1100 block of Bret Harte Road. Madrid had blood on his shirt and told officers he had been stabbed by the victim in a fight.

Officers located the victim in the 1100 bl ock of Booster Way. The victim told the officers that he had been stabbed by Madrid and he fought with Madrid to prevent further injury to himself.

The victim said that he and Madrid were in a residence in the 1100 block of Bret Harte Road when Madrid came up behind him and tried to stab him with a knife. The victim began to fight Madrid and was able to wrestle the knife away from Madrid. The victim ran out of the house with the knife and began yelling for neighbors to call the Police for assistance.

The victim suffered moderate injuries and was treated at a local hospital and released.

Madrid suffered minor injuries while fighting with the victim. Madrid was treated at a local hospital, then booked in to the Calaveras County Jail for the following charges:

245(a)(1) PC – Assault With a Deadly Weapon
243(d) PC- Battery- Serious Bodily Injury
417(a)(1) PC – Brandishing a Weapon
