Columbia, CA…On May 19, 2018 at approximately 12:25 pm, 56 year old San Jose resident, Darryl A. Fraser, was riding a 2004 Harley Davidson motorcycle, traveling southbound on Springfield Road, south of Parrotts Ferry Road at approximately 40 to 45 miles per hour while passing other motorcycles also traveling in the southbound lane. 31 year old Rohnert Park resident, Daniel J. Rauer, was riding a 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle, traveling southbound on Springfield Road, south of Parrotts Ferry Road at approximately 35 miles per hour, ahead and to the right of Mr. Fraser.
After passing numerous motorcycles, Mr. Fraser proceeded to move to the right within the southbound lane and the right side of Mr. Fraser’s motorcycle collided with the left side of Mr. Rauer’s motorcycle.
This collision caused both motorcycles to travel onto and over the dirt/gravel shoulder colliding with rocks and bushes. Both Mr. Fraser and Mr. Rauer were ejected into the bushes along the right side of the road. Mr. Fraser sustained major injuries as a result of the collision and was flown to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto.
Mr. Rauer sustained moderate injuries and was taken to Adventist Health Sonora before being transported to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto.
Alcohol nor drugs were suspected to be a factor in this collision.
