Calaveras Tourism Continues to Grow to $193,000,000 in 2017 ~ Calaveras CVB

Angels Camp, CA…Calaveras Tourism is an economic heavy hitter. Preliminary data for 2017 shows an increase of 3% from $188.5 million to $193 million in overall tourism spending in Calaveras County. Visitors spent most on food service and food stores combined for a total of $69.3 million (up from $68.5 million in 2016) followed by lodging at $45.2 million (up from $43.8 million in 2016). Gas and local transportation saw a 2% increase over 2016.

Industry earnings by travel spending in Calaveras showed increases across the board, ranging from 6.5% in retail spending to a 12.5% increase in gas and transportation earnings.

Tourism supported 2,660 jobs in Calaveras County in 2017, showing a steady increase since 2010 of 6.3% year over year.  Calaveras County tourism generated $13.4 million in state and local taxes in 2017 and our local tourism industry earned $88.4 million, a 9.7% increase over 2016.
